Two Wayne wrestlers medal during 39th Huskerland State

A pair of Wayne High girls wrestlers took their talents to the 39th Huskerland State tournament this past weekend.

From the Buffalo County Fairgrounds in Kearney, Gracelynn Daniels and Anna Naeve both represented Wayne Wrestling on Saturday and Sunday, March 22 – 23.

In the high school girls division, Naeve (143-154 lb.) earned a silver medal while Daniels (115-120 lb.) took the sixth place spot on the podium.

Naeve picked up wins by fall (3:24) over Paiton Lewis (Red Cloud) and another pin (2:29) over Brooke Talarico (Franklin) before suffering a loss by fall (1:26) against Audrey Cline (2TG). She finished with a win by fall (1:09) over Adri Perez (308 Wrestling Academy) in the second place match.

Daniels began with a loss by tech fall (16-1) against Peyton Cock (308 Wrestling Academy) followed by a win by fall (3:27) over Ester Miranda (Lady Luck). She lost by tech fall (15-0) to Brittley Braithwait (CWO) in the consolation semi before ending with a sixth place finish falling by tech fall (20-2) against Allie Oligmueller (Husky Wrestling Club).
