Four of the five Wayne Herald area high school girls wrestling teams began the week during the day on Jan. 12.
From Ewing, the Summerland Bobcat Lady Invite showcased 31 girls teams.
Wayne High finished fourth with 114 points, Tri County Northeast tied for 13th (42), Wakefield took 16th (37) and Winside rounded out the area teams in a tie for 27th with no points.
Wayne High's top performer was Nyla Bolles (140) winning her weight class.
Bronze medals were awarded to Megan Magnuson (130), Ivette Ozuna (155) and Alexandria Ziska (170). Edmy Balux (105) placed fourth.
Tri County Northeast leaders were Kiya Tornez (155) winning her weight class while Jenni Olson (100) took fourth.
Wakefield's top performer was Natalee Nelson (190) winning her weight class.
Winside sent four wrestlers with no team scoring posted.
The Wayne High girls wrestling team will next visit Battle Creek on Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. for a dual along with the boys.
The Tri County Northeast girls wrestling team returns to the mat on Jan. 17 at Plainview (10 a.m.) (boys off until Jan. 22 at Lewis & Clark Conf. in Homer at 1 p.m. along with girls).
Wakefield is right back on the mat at the Scribner-Snyder Invite on Jan. 13 at 5 p.m. (boys next host triangular on Jan. 15 at 6 p.m.).
Winside girls wrestlers are off until Jan. 17 at the Plainview Invite starting at 10 a.m. (boys next visit Weeping Water on Jan. 16 at 2 p.m.).
