Wayne High individual bowlers stole the show in postseason play while a pair of Wayne Herald coverage area basketball teams were in action during a rescheduled doubleheader.
From Sun Valley Lanes & Games in Lincoln, the 2026 NSAA State Bowling Championships began with Class B singles on Feb. 9.
Wayne's Konnor Kai was crowned Class B individual champion over Benjamin Haschke who finished runner-up. Aiden Petersen earned a fourth place medal.
Another individual who saw action at state was Dylan Jensen finishing 11th in qualifying competition.
In the girls division, Gracyn Johnson finished 11th followed by Graycen Trautman in 12th during the qualifying round. McKaeya Becker also placed 22nd among the 30 bowlers in qualifying.

State Bowling for Class B will continue on Feb. 10 with team action for both Wayne boys and girls.
The second-seeded Wayne boys (24-3) will open at 8 a.m. against #7 Lincoln Standing Bear (9-16) while the fifth-seeded Blue Devil girls (21-5) will be in action in the afternoon at 2 p.m. facing #4 Lincoln Pius X (19-9).
Finals for the boys will start at 7 p.m. followed by the girls.
From Wakefield, the Tri County Northeast girls basketball team picked up a 46-42 victory over Wakefield while the host Wakefield boys secured a 72-68 victory against the Allen/Emerson-Hubbard co-op boys.
The Wakefield girls (3-18, dropped fourth straight) and boys (14-7, won back-to-back) are right back on their home court hosting Winnebago at 6/7:45 p.m. on Feb. 10.
The Wolfpack boys (4-18, dropped back-to-back) will next host Pender on Feb. 13 starting at 6 p.m. (boys only) while the TCNE girls (5-16, snapped a two-game losing streak) will conclude their regular season joining their boys team at Omaha Nation on Feb. 14 starting at 1 p.m.
