Doug Eugene Pinkelman was born in Wayne on March 27, 1952 to Clifford (Pink) and Elaine (Fredrickson) Pinkelman. Doug moved to Plainview in March 1974 and drove a cement truck; worked at APCO for five years, focusing on tire salvage and repair, before starting his own business in September 1979. He spent 42 dedicated years running/working/owning Pinkelman Painting & Construction, doing jobs in and around the Plainview area. He retired due to blindness. He cherished the generations of families he grew close to over the years.
Doug loved to read Westerns, History, Mysteries and Sci Fi books, tinker with toy trains in his shop, collect John Wayne memorabilia, drink (Ancient Age and Ole Milwaukee) with friends, and listen to books on tape after blindness set in.
Survivors include two sisters: Marcia (Steve) Geilenkirchen; Peg (Kevin) Erwin; two brothers: Dan (fiancee, Cindy) Pinkelman; and Randy (Janet) Pinkelman; eight nieces, three nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews and two aunts, Cleone Fredrickson and Shirley Ocobock.
He shared a special bond with Manny Ruan, who he considers his adopted daughter. Doug was also a proud grandfather figure to five adopted grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Doug was loved by countless others whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford (Pink) and Elaine Pinkelman, grandparents Joe and Elizabeth Pinkelman and Bill and Rose Fredrickson, and sister-in-law, Marion Pinkelman.
