Discussion on school meal prices, a master facility plan update and the resignation of a teacher were among the items on the agenda when the Wayne Community Schools' Board of Education met in regular session on Monday.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Lenihan told the board that the two main costs for the meal program are staff and food. Food costs have risen considerably and the district needs to raise prices to make up for these increases.
Board members unanimously approved the resignation of Terran Sievers, a science teacher for the district. Sievers resigned for personal reasons and the district will immediately begin the search for his replacement.
Considerable discussion was held on the master facility plan. The Facility/Safety/Finance Committee has determined upgrades to the gym are currently the highest priority.
Approval was given to enter into a six-year lease agreement for $41,685 with Tiny Mobile Robots for a Tiny Mobile Robot to be used to paint lines on the school's football field and track.
The Wayne Community Schools' Board of Education will next meet in regular session on Monday, Aug. 10 at 5 p.m. in the junior-senior high school library.
