Winside week four fall sports recap: XC, volleyball, football

Members of the Winside girls cross country team battled Mother Nature with weekday action.

From Twin Creeks Golf Club, the Winside girls finished seventh with 66 points. (No boys cross country in 2026 for Winside).

In the girls division, Aleah Bilstein just missed the medal stand in 17th (22:52.4).

 

A pair of home matches were on the docket for Winside volleyball.

From Winside, the Wildcats first suffered a 3-0 loss against Bloomfield (26-28, 12-25, 17-25) on Sept. 17 followed by a heart breaking five set loss against Wausa (19-25, 28-26, 26-28, 25-14, 12-15) on Sept. 22.

Winside is now 6-9 on the season.

In the loss against Wausa, Tinsley Schwedhelm (one ace) recorded five kills and 10 digs followed by Katelyn Jaeger (one ace) with 13 digs and four kills.

Adrianna Miller (one block) dished out 11 assists. Raylyn Behmer added nine assists.

 

Class D3 Nebraska High School football continued for Winside.

From Winside on Sept. 18, the Wildcats suffered a 52-16 home loss against Wausa falling to 1-3.

Carter Krause recorded a pair of touchdowns on 12 attempts for 57 yards. 

Stratton Sellin recorded a team-high 13 tackles (nine solo) followed by Mason Edwards with nine tackles (seven solo).
