Laurel-Concord-Coleridge cross country runners were still able to take to a Nebraska course despite a the cancellation of the Sept. 24 Crofton Invite due to weather.
From the Kearney Country Club on Sept. 28, the LCC girls finished fourth with 62 points while the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge boys took 38th with 373 points during the UNK High School Invite among Class D action.
In the girls division, the Bears were led by a pair of medalists being Faith Galvin in ninth (21:09.19) and Justice Olson taking the final medal spot at 15th (21:31.46) by nearly two seconds.
During boys competition, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge was led by Owen Johnson in 60th during a time of 19:23.42 followed by Sebastian Van Drongelen (167th - 21:37.85).
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls golf competed in conference action despite having a pair of girls golf invites canceled due to weather.
The Wayne Invite (Sept. 24) and LCC Invite (Sept. 26) were called off with all the recent rain.
From the CedarView Country Club on Sept. 28 during the Greater Northeast Activities Conference (GNAC) meet, the LCC finished runner-up with a 463.
Top medalists were Alyza Leonard in fourth (92) followed by Harper Bruning in fifth (97).
Another busy week of volleyball culminated with a 7-0 record for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge.
Starting in Wakefield on Sept. 24 during a triangular, LCC swept both Wynot (25-17, 25-20) and the host Trojans (25-17, 25-11).
The Bears then won the Elkhorn Valley Invite in Tilden on Sept. 26 starting with a sweep over both St. Paul (25-23, 25-19) and O'Neill (25-14, 25-22) followed by a 2-1 win over Battle Creek (25-14, 24-26, 25-21) to advance to the finals. In the championship match, the Bears swept Bergan Catholic (25-23, 25-19).
In recent action, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge won the final two sets in a five-set thriller at Pierce (26-24, 26-28, 14-25, 25-23, 15-10) on Sept. 29. It marked Pierce's third loss of the season (14-3).
LCC is now 19-3 and have won eight straight.
Back on Sept. 22 head coach Julie Kvols reached 200 career wins.
From the weekend invite, Carlie Kvols, who recently surpassed 3,000 career assists dished out 97 total assists in the four matches. She had a double-double against Battle Creek (28 assists/11 digs) and also totaled 28 digs, three aces and two blocks (one solo).
Rena Rasmussen, who moved passed 1,000 digs in her career, had double-doubles against Battle Creek (14 kills/19 digs) and Bergan Catholic (14 kills/13 digs).
Scoring was the name of the game for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge in a shutout road victory.
From Bancroft, the visiting Bears won 70-0 at Bancroft-Rosalie on Sept. 25.
Paxton Hoeppner completed 5-of-5 passes for 81 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran the ball twice for 15 yards.
Tanner Thompson led the ground attack with 103 yards on just five carries with a long of 47. He scored three times.
Dayton Korth recorded a team-high six tackles (two solo) to go along with his pick six, two tackles for loss and fumble recovery followed by Alex Allison with five tackles (one solo) and a TFL.
