Wayne’s softball matchup with Logan View/Scribner-Snyder was moved from Scribner to Wayne Tuesday, but that didn’t stop the Blue Devils from winning their 24th straight of the season with a 13-0 shutout.
Wayne hit three home runs in the win Tuesday, the first coming off the bat of Sidney Biggerstaff, who hit a two-run long fly to center to highlight a seven-run first inning for the Blue Devils.
In the second inning, senior Annie Kniesche led of with a double and came home on younger sister Tori Kniesche’s home run to right field, part of a three-run second inning that made it 10-0.
Wayne’s third dinger of the night came in the fourth. Abby Ankeny led off with a walk and Kendall Dorey singled, setting up Allison Claussen for her second home run of the season, a shot over the wall in left, to score the final three runs of the game.
Tori Kniesche threw her fifth no-hitter of the season in the win, striking out 11 and walking one in four innings of work. She led the offense with two hits and four RBI’s. Claussen and Annie Kniesche also had two hits as part of a 10-hit attack that saw 10 different players score runs.
The 24-0 Blue Devils travel to West Point to face Guardian Angels Central Catholic on Thursday. They play in the Mid State Conference Saturday in Albion and close the regular season next Tuesday at South Sioux City.
