Wayne State athletics will be honoring veterans at a pair of home events Saturday highlighting several promotions at Wildcat home events this weekend.

Nov. 14 will be Autograph Poster Night when the third-ranked Wayne State volleyball team hosts the University of Jamestown at 6 p.m.

Bring the family for a fun night of Wildcat volleyball and stick around after the game for autographs with the Wildcat volleyball players in the Bebee Family Atrium located between Rice Auditorium and the Recreation Center.

Also, WSC is ranked second in the second NCAA Volleyball Regional rankings released by the NCAA office in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The Wildcats, who are 20-2 in-region and 24-3 overall, are one of four teams from the NSIC ranked in the top 10.

The NSIC, Mid-America Athletic Association and Great American Conference comprise the 40-team NCAA Central Region.  The top eight teams in the region will advance to the NCAA Central Region Tournament December 4-7. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the MIAA, GAC and NSIC postseason tournaments with the remaining five spots awarded on an at-large basis. The NCAA volleyball selection show will be streamed online on Monday, November 24th at 6:30 p.m. Central Time on NCAA.com.

Wayne State is ranked third in this week’s AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll with a 24-3 record overall and tied for first in the NSIC with a 17-1 league mark.  The Wildcats will be at home this weekend hosting the University of Jamestown Friday at 6 p.m. and Northern State Saturday in a 5 p.m. contest.

Nov. 15 will be Veterans Appreciation Day as all veterans receive free admission to the Wayne State home football game vs. #13 Augustana at 1 p.m. at Cunningham Field and to the Wildcat home volleyball match in Rice Auditorium vs. Northern State at 5 p.m.  Military ID required to gain free admission to each event.

The football game also marks the 37th annual Egg Bowl contest sponsored by Michael Foods of Wakefield.

The event has helped raise over $175,000 for Wildcat student-athletes and is a celebration of the long-standing partnership between Michael Foods and Wayne State athletics.
