Vicky L. Thies, 74, of Winside, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at her farm home near Winside.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 5 at United Methodist Church in Winside. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 4 at United Methodist Church in Winside. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Memorials may be directed to Vicky’s family for later designation.
Vicky Lynn Thies was born Nov. 4, 1948, in Norfolk to Lyle and Leona (Meyer) Wade. She was a 1967 graduate of Winside High School. Victoria Lynn Wade married her high school sweetheart, Terrence “Terry” Henry Thies, June 8, 1968, at the United Methodist Church in Winside. Together the couple raised their children and farmed all of their married life near Winside.
Vicky enjoyed attending church services, fellowship, gardening, Facebook, decorating for all the holidays, and for all that knew her, she will be remember for her delicious baking and as an excellent cook. But most of all, Vicky enjoyed spending time with her family and their activities.
Survivors include her children, Michael (Lisa) Thies of Winside, Michelle (Brian) Petzoldt of Winside, and Tammy Thies of Wayne; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one due in November; three sisters, Sharon Christina of Norfolk, Judy Ziemer of Orion, Illinois and Belva Acklie of Norfolk; brother-in-law, Russell Thies of Norfolk; extended family and her pup, Molly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry, in August 2021; parents, Lyle and Leona (Meyer) Wade; parents-in-law, Arland and Deloris (Hoff) Thies; brothers-in-law, Stanley Acklie and Bill Ziemer; nephews, Jeff Harris and Scotty Acklie; niece Nelly Acklie; several aunts and uncles.
