Virginia “Ginger” Ley (Hein) Nissen, 92, of Lincoln died Saturday, March 23, 2024. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 6 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2110 Sheridan Blvd in Lincoln. Public visitation with family present will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 5 at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive. Private family inurnment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne at a later date.

Memorials may be given to Westminster Presbyterian Church Foundation, 2110 Sheridan Blvd, Lincoln, NE, or Bryan Foundation, Nissen Scholarship - Bryan Nursing Student, 1600 So. 48th Street, Lincoln, NE.

Virginia “Ginger” Ley (Hein) Nissen was born June 18, 1931, in Fremont to Harold E. and Joy Margaret (Ley) Hein. Ginger was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church where she was very active serving as Deacon and Sunday School teacher and a member of P.E.O for over 70 years. She was the spice of our lives, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, fondly known as Gammie.

Family members include her husband Jim Nissen; children Rege (Linda) Nissen, Jeff (Sue) Nissen, Joy (Matt) Wimmer, and Tim (Pam) Nissen; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Hein; daughter-in-law, Judy Nissen and granddaughter, Katie Nissen.
