Ginny Bethune-Glassmeyer went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 6, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 83. Born on June 20, 1942 in Shenandoah, Iowa to parents Chester and Bernice Tennant, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Ginny grew up in Omaha, attending Central High School and worked many years in the retail business. On July 8, 1967 she married Willie Bethune. Together they shared three children, Theresa, Tina and Steve. After Willie’s passing in April of 1992, Ginny was blessed to eventually meet and fall in love with Steve Glassmeyer of Wayne. The two went on to marry on Sept. 15, 2001 and celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary this past year. Through this marriage, Ginny gained an additional son, Chris, further enriching her family and bringing her great joy.

Ginny found joy in traveling, camping, planting flowers and spending time with her family. She dedicated her life to her family, and will be remembered most for her warm heart, quick wit, and her special bond with grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her loving husband Steve; daughters Theresa (Bradley) Poppe of Wayne and Tina Engelbart (fiance Tom Higginbotham) of Norfolk; sons Steven Bethune of Wayne, and Christopher Glassmeyer (Jodi) of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren Rob (Breanne) Dishman, Samantha Flood, Megan Arehart, Whitney (John) Roberts, Jarrett Engelbart, Austin Bethune, Michaela Madison, and Heather La Marca; great-grandchildren Devin, Brayden, Olivia, Jude, Shayd, Aria and Marcella; brother Charles (Millie) Tennant of Waukee, Iowa, sister-in-law Vonnie Bethune of Norfolk and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Bernice Tennant, husband, Willie Bethune; sister Evelyn Lambert; brothers, Ike and Ed Tennant and former son-in-law Russ Engelbart.

Though we mourn, we do not grieve without hope. “Blessed are those who die in the Lord… they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.” — Revelation 14:13
