Virginia Ann Weber was born Aug. 4, 1931 in Creighton to Olive Ruby Bonge-Falter and Carl Jacob Falter. She started her education in Creighton at the newly built grade school. She was an active member of choir, theater, and cheerleading, and her beautiful voice and joy remained a special part of her life throughout the years. After graduation, Virginia moved to Omaha to work at Immanuel Lutheran Hospital for one year before moving to Vermillion to attend the USD Nursing Program. While working on summer break from college, she met the man she would marry, Marvin Weber, who was teaching at Creighton Public School.
Marvin and Virginia were married on Nov. 25, 1953, at the Creighton Lutheran Church. The couple had three children, Bradley Ray, Karen Elizabeth, and Laurrie Louise, and made a home in Randolph where Virginia lived for 65 years. While raising her children, she also worked as a Nurse’s Aide and Physical Therapy Assistant at Colonial Manor in Randolph.
Virginia loved her family, music, baking (especially bread), traveling, and watching her favorite sports teams which included the Huskers, the Royals, and the Chiefs. She especially loved being present for her grandchildren, attending their sporting events, activities, and concerts, and was always proud to cheer them on and celebrate their accomplishments. She also held a special place in her heart for her great-grandchildren.
Virginia was an active member of First United Methodist Church and the Randolph Community, giving her talents to the TeamMates program at the public school, Order of the Eastern Star, and PEO. Her love of singing was especially meaningful to her. She also performed with Sweet Adelines, a women’s barbershop harmony group.
