Wakefield boys win sixth straight behind 20 point performance from Johnson at Crofton game

Following a girls only game earlier in the week, the Wakefield boys were on the road Tuesday night.

From Crofton, the Trojans from the East Husker Conference visited Crofton from the Mid State Conference.

Wakefield won 44-41 against the host Warriors.

In the boys only game Crofton took the early 15-10 first quarter lead as Wakefield chipped away with a 10-8 second quarter. The host Warriors led 23-20 at the break. The Trojans then outscored Crofton, 10-7 in the third and 14-11 in the fourth. Final favored Wakefield winning 44-41 picking up their sixth straight victory improving to 9-7 as the Warriors fell to 3-14 dropping their fourth straight.

Wakefield leaders were junior Cael Johnson with 20 points while junior Jacob Birkley followed with seven points.

Five-point scoring came from senior Timothy Kaufman, junior Jacob Borg and senior Jesse Lundahl as junior Benny Palma scored two points.

Wakefield shot 5-14 from the foul line.

Crofton was led in scoring by sophomore Trevor Allen with 12 points.

The Warriors finished 5-9 at the charity stripe.

The Wakefield girls and boys basketball teams will next host Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Thursday.
