Wakefield boys wrestling places fifth in Madison, three medal

Wakefield boys wrestlers prepared for a series of back-to-back invites entering the weekend.

From Madison, Wakefield joined 16 other boys teams during the Madison Invite on Friday.

The Wakefield boys finished 15th with 39 points among their five wrestlers.

West Point-Beemer won the Madison Invite with 202.5 points with Gretna East one point back in runner-up (201.5), Lakeview took third (169), Boone Central placed fourth (150.5) and Logan View rounded out the top five teams with 120 points.

Wakefield leaders were Ruben Vega (157) who collected a fifth place medal while Lane Fischer (132) and Domingo Centino (144) both followed in sixth.

Baldwin Garcia (106) and Ezequiel Ramirez (165) were also in action.
