Wakefield drops road contest

Ahead of a two-day classic, the Wakefield volleyball took to the road in early September.

From Battle Creek, the Trojans dropped a Tuesday match in straight sets at Battle Creek (11-25, 13-25, 8-25). Wakefield is now 0-2.

Battle Creek improved to 4-2.

Freshman Quinn Riewer led the Trojans with six kills and five digs while senior Sierra Kaufman followed with four kills and one dig.

Senior Ashlyn Riewer posted a team-high 10 digs as freshman Taylor Brown totaled 12 assists and  four digs.

Wakefield is set to compete in the Northeast Nebraska Jean Groth Volleyball Classic starting tonight.

In Wisner (auxiliary gym), the Trojans will face Archbishop Bergan (Fremont) at 6:30 p.m. followed by GACC (West Point) at 7:30 p.m.

Teams will be placed in three division for additional matches on Saturday in either Pender or Wisner.
