Wakefield falls at Battle Creek

Wakefield girls and boys basketball teams took to the road to open the weekend.

From Battle Creek, the Trojans competed against the Bravettes and Braves on Friday.

The Wakefield girls suffered a 52-12 loss while the Trojan boys fell 62-57.

In the girls game, Battle Creek jumped ahead 21-2 in the first quarter as both teams then scored six points in the second to put the host Bravettes up 27-8 at the half. Battle Creek then outscored Wakefield, 13-2 in the third and 12-2 in the fourth. Final favored Battle Creek winning 521-2 to improve to 3-1 at Wakefield fell to 0-4.

No individual scoring was provided.

During the boys outing, Battle Creek led 11-9 after the first quarter and used a 20-14 advantage in the second quarter to go up 31-23 at the break. Wakefield cut into the deficit with a 17-13 third but the Braves won the fourth, 18-17. Final favored Battle Creek winning 62-57 to improve to 2-1 as the Trojans fell to 0-4.

  Wakefield will next host Stanton on Dec. 20.
