Wakefield falls short against Hartington, eliminated by Pender

Following a 15-run blowout victory, scoring became more difficult for the Wakefield Post 81 Seniors as the host team during the Class C Area 2 Tourney.

From Eaton Field, first round action began on July 24 where #4 Wakefield put on a show finishing with a 15-0 win in four innings over #5 Tekamah-Herman.

The Wakefield Seniors finished strong after scoring three runs in the first inning and a single run in the second, by capitalizing with a five-run third and six-run fourth.

The following night, Post 81 hung with #1 Hartington and put a run on the board in the seventh but suffered a 3-1 loss.

Moving into an elimination round (July 26), Post 81 dropped a 10-2 decision in five innings against #2 Pender.

Wakefield closed out their Senior summer season at 8-12.

The C2 final favored#2 Pender winning back-to-back six-inning games over #1 Hartington of 13-1 (nine-run sixth) and 12-4. Hartington will represent Area 2 as Pender is the host site of the Class C Senior Legion tourney to be held August 1-5.
