As the Wakefield football program prepares for a road outing, week one showcased a high-scoring game for the visiting team.
From Gardner Stadium in Wakefield on August 29, the Trojans dropped 62-14 contest against Wausa-Osmond to begin 2025 at 0-1.

Wakefield put points on the board in the opening quarter but trailed 22-6 before falling behind 30-0 at half. Following a 26-point third quarter for Wausa-Osmond, the Trojans won the fourth quarter, 8-6.
"We are disappointed in the outcome of the game and we just didn't execute very well in all phases of the game," said head coach Joe Kvidera. "We learned what we need to improve and will be working on those things going into our game with Harting-Newcastle."
Senior Jacob Borg finished 4-11 for 37 yards with one touchdown. He also led the rushing attack with 40 yards on 17 rushes.
Senior Mason Lamprecht hauled in three receptions for 30 yards with one touchdown as junior Carter Kratke added six carries for 20 yards.
Defensivley, Wakefield was led by senior Ruben Vega with 18 tackles (11 solo) and one tackle for loss.
Wakefield will be in search of snapping an 18-game losing streak next on Friday, September 5 at Hartington-Newcastle. Kickoff from the Hartington Sports Complex will be at 7 p.m.
