With several northeast Nebraska youth baseball teams either having to postpone or get only one of their games in, Wakefield Post 81 American Legion baseball played twice on the road.
From Wisner, the June 2 games showcased Wakefield Post 81 at Wisner-Pilger/Dodge-Howells.
Wakefield Seniors suffered a 6-4 loss after allowing two runs late in the sixth inning while the Wakefield Juniors dropped an 8-5 decision after scoring two runs late in their sixth inning. Both Post 81 teams are now 0-3 on the season.
During the Seniors outing, Adrian Flores singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice while Jesse Lundahl singled and scored twice.
Tanner Thompson singled and drove in a run.
Tanner Thompson (64 pitches) started the opening three and two-thirds allowing three runs off one hit while striking out three batters, walking four and hitting one. Cael Johnson (44) worked two innings allowing three earned runs off four hits while striking out two batters, walking two and hitting one. Mason Lamprecht (5) recorded the final out via strikeout.
From the Juniors contest, Tristan Connell singled and scored twice while Jacob Birkley and Ruben Vegan both singled and scored.
Turner Thompson accounted for a RBI and run scored.
