A girls only basketball contest opened the week for the Wakefield Trojans.
From the main gym in Wakefield, the Trojans hosted Homer in a girls only outing.
Homer held a slight 9-6 lead after the first quarter as Wakefield answered with a 13-10 second to tie the game at 19-19 heading into half. The visiting Knights then outscored Wakefield, 16-7 in the third and 9-5 in the fourth. Final favored Homer winning 44-31 winning their fourth straight improving to 15-1 while Wakefield dropped their second straight falling to 3-14.
Sophomore Montse Avila posted a team-high 14 points while sophomore Boston Brown followed with six points.
Other scoring came from senior Isabella Andrade with four points, junior Ashlyn Riewer added three points as two-point scoring came from junior Gracyn Keagle and senior Alli Brown.
The Wakefield girls and boys will next host Laurel-Concord-Coleridge later this week on Thursday.
The Wakefield boys will be at Crofton on Tuesday, Jan. 28 for a boys only contest.
