From Hartington on Aug. 27, the Trojans participated in the Hartington-Newcastle Invite.
Both Wakefield teams finished sixth (girls - 82 pts, boys - 109).
In the girls division, Jamie Lopez was the top Wakefield runner in 26th (25:49.8).
During boys competition, a silver medal was awarded to Colt Johnson in 17:46.1.
Opening night action for Wakefield volleyball went five sets on the road along with home action to begin Sept.
From West Point, the Trojans suffered a loss in five sets at West Point-Beemer (19-25, 20-25, 25-9, 25-20, 12-15) on Aug. 27 and suffered a 3-0 home loss (9-25, 19-25, 12-25) against Battle Creek on Sept. 1.
Wakefield begins their season at 0-2.
From the five-set match, Taylor Brown posted a double-double thanks to 10 service aces and 24 assists to go along with nine digs (one shy of the immaculate triple-double).
Eight-man football action kicked off its season for Wakefield with a home win.
From Gardner Stadium, the host Trojans picked up a 30-16 win over Cedar Bluffs to start their year at 1-0.
Matthew Metzler finished with 16 rushes for 126 yards and two scores along with a 4-for-5 passing stat-line for 34 yards and one touchdown.
On the defensive side, Carter Kratke recorded 12 tackles (five solo) to go along with a tackle for loss.
