For the fourth time in the month of April, the Wayne High baseball team continued their busy spring schedule on Friday.
From Omaha Roncalli Catholic, the Blue Devils visited the Crimson Pride.
Wayne had the game tied at 2-2 entering the seventh but gave up the winning run to fall 3-2. WHS saw their four-game winning streak come to an end dropping to 6-4 as Roncalli Catholic improved to 2-5 snapping a four-game losing skid.
Neither team scored in the opening inning until the host Crimson Pride posts a single run in the bottom of the second.
Wayne High answered with a run of their own in the top of the third. Sophomore Adrian Contreras grounded out driving in junior Drew Reinhardt.
Roncalli Catholic would tie the game with one run the next half of an inning.
The Blue Devils plated one more run in the top of the fourth when senior Alex Rodriguez scored on a passed ball.
Following back-to-back scoreless inning and Wayne unable to put a run on the board in the top of the seventh, the Crimson Pride won the game in walk-off fashion on a RBI base hit.
Final favored Roncalli Catholic winning 3-2 and outhitting Wayne, 6-2. Both teams committed an error.
Drew Reinhardt singled and scored to lead Wayne.
Junior Brodey Munter singled; Adrian Contreras accounted for a RBI as Alex Rodriguez scored.
Junior Gavin Anderson (17) suffered the loss in two-thirds of an inning allowing an earned run off one hit while striking out and walking one batter each. Contreras (94) worked five and a third allowing two runs (one earned) off five hits while striking out seven batters, walking three and hitting one.
