For the second time in three days, Wayne High met North Bend Central on the diamond.
From the Wayne Softball Complex, Monday’s outing was originally scheduled to be a triangular but changed to a JV/Varsity match-up with the Tigers.
On Monday, Wayne jumped ahead early and won 9-0 over North Bend Central. The Blue Devils are now 9-4 on the season while the Tigers fell to 3-11.
Over the weekend during the Mercy Invite in Ralston, Wayne won 10-0.
To open the week, WHS posted a five-run first inning followed by single runs in the second and third innings to lead 7-0. The Blue Devils added two more runs in the fourth. Final favored Wayne High winning 9-0 as WHS also won the hit department, 8-1 with no errors compared to four errors committed by North Bend Central.
Mackenzie Nissen singled twice, drove in three runs and scored; Rylin Hall doubled, drove in a run and scored twice as Courtney Roeber singled twice and drove in a run.
Lily Gubbels singled, drove in a run and scored; Nyla Bolles and Sammi Gubbels both singled and scored twice; Jordyn Gamble and Kinnley McGuire both accounted for a RBI as Reagan McGuire scored.
Nissen (63 pitches) picked up the complete game shutout victory in five innings allowing one hit while striking out nine batters and hitting one.
