Wayne Blue Broncos improve to 10-0; four youth teams in action Wednesday

With less than a week remaining in the regular season for the Tri County League, four youth baseball teams from Wayne took to the diamond June 19.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the Wayne Blue Didgets and Broncos entertained Homer while Wayne White visited Wisner.

In Wayne, the Wayne Blue Broncos (10-0) thanks to a 7-1 victory while the Wayne Blue Didgets (5-5) suffered a 3-2 loss against Homer.

During the Broncos outing, Wayne Blue opened scoring in the third with five runs. Following one run by Homer in the fourth, Wayne answered with two more runs in the fifth to win 7-1 and outhit Homer, 6-2.

Kian Pick tripled, drove in a run and scored while Brayden Stegemann doubled and scored twice.

Mason Wendte singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Blake Heithold singled, drove in a run and scored; Braden McManigal singled and scored as Gage Kimmel singled and drove in a run.

Stegemann (71 pitches) picked up the win in four innings allowing an earned run off one hit while striking out eight batters and walking five. Heithold (27) worked an inning and a third striking out two batters and walking three. Wendte recorded the final two outs with two k’s and allowed a hit.

In the Didgets game, Wayne Blue dropped a close one to Homer by one-run. Wayne recorded two hits from Mason Jech and Ty Wittler but left five runners stranded.

Finn McElroy pitched three innings while Ryan Magnuson provided two solid innings in relief while striking out six batters.

The Wayne White Broncos (2-7) suffered a 4-3 loss marking their third consecutive loss while the Wayne White Didgets (4-6) dropped their second straight following a 7-3 loss at Wisner.

During the Broncos outing, Wayne White took the early 2-0 lead in the first inning. Wisner answered with back-to-back single runs in the second and third to tie the game at 2-2. Following a scoreless fourth, both teams scored a run in the fifth before Wisner secured the walk-off win thanks to a run in the seventh to win 4-3 despite the Wayne White Broncos winning the hit department, 8-5.

Isaiah Zarate singled, doubled, tripled, drove in two runs and scored while Merrick Miller singled, doubled and scored twice.

Hudson Kramer, Mason Nelson and Max Judd all singled as Harley Poland accounted for a RBI.

Kramer (99 pitches) suffered the complete game loss in six innings allowing four runs (three earned) off five hits while striking out eight batters and walking three.

In the Didgets game, Wayne White scored three runs in the top of the first inning as Wisner answered with four runs in the second inning. Following a scoreless third, Wisner scored three more runs in the fourth to win 7-3 as both teams recorded four hits.

Aden Greve singled, drove in two runs and scored while Case Ruwe and Aiden Kesting both singled and scored.

Heath Poland singled and drove in a run.

Ayser Titiml (64 pitches) suffered the loss in an inning and two-thirds allowing four earned runs off four hits while striking out and walking five batters each. Heath Poland (48) worked an inning and two-thirds allowing three earned runs while striking out three batters, walking five and hitting one. Greve (16) recorded the final out via strikeout and walked two batters.
