Wayne Blue Didgets secured one-run victory; Blue Broncos postponed due to weather; Wayne White splits road outings

Ahead of a weekend tournament, Wayne youth baseball teams competed in Tri County League mid-week action.

From Tekamah, the Wayne Blue Broncos (12U) and Didgets (10U) visited Tekamah-Herman Purple while Wayne White was at Schuyler.

In Tekamah, the Wayne Blue Broncos remain at 7-0 following a rain postponement to their game while the Wayne Didgets won 4-3 to improve to 5-3.

During the Broncos outing, rain caused the postponement as coaches are looking at rescheduling the game for sometime next week.

In the Didgets game, it was a slow two innings early one as Tekamah-Herman Purple led 1-0. Wayne answered with a four-run third inning  followed by Tekamah-Herman scoring two more runs in the fourth. Final favored the Wayne Blue Didgets winning 4-3.

During the big third inning, Jack Baxendale and Travis Heithold both drew walks while Ryan Magnuson singled, Mason Jech tripled and Ty Wittler singled.

Magnuson recorded nine strikeouts in five innings of work definsvley. Bradley Hansen earned the save in the sixth inning.

From Schuyler, the Wayne White Broncos fell to 2-6 following a 9-6 loss while the Wayne Didgets improve to 4-4 thanks to a 10-3 victory.

In the Broncos game, Schuyler led 1-0 after the first inning. Following a scoreless second, both teams scored a run in the third before Schuyler began to pull away with three runs in the fourth and a 4-2 advantage in the fifth. The Wayne White Broncos scored three runs in the top of the sixth but suffered a 9-6 loss despite Wayne winning the hit department, 10-3.

Hudson Kramer singled three times, doubled, drove in a run and scored three times as Merrick Miller singled, doubled and drove in a run.

Mason Nelson and Isaiah Zarate both singled, drove in a run and scored; Trey Wardlow singled and scored as Max Judd singled.

Miller (77 pitches) suffered the loss in three innings allowing two runs (one earned) off one hit while striking out five batters, walking six and hitting one. Nelson (62) worked an inning and a third allowing seven earned runs off two hits while walking eight batters and hitting one. Drue Jensen (13) pitched two-thirds of an inning striking out two batters and hitting one.

During the Didgets outing, Wayne White led 4-1 after the first inning and followed with a run in the second and two more runs in the third to lead 7-1. Wayne outscored Schuyler, 3-1 in the fourth as Schuyler scored a run in the fifth. Final favored the Wayne White Didgets winning 10-3 as both teams finished with four hits.

Ayser Titiml doubled, drove in a run and scored while Adrian Zarate doubled and scored twice.

Case Ruwe singled and drove in two runs; Aden Greve singled and scored twice; Aiden Kesting and Weston Nelson both accounted for two RBI and  a run scored; Graham Sharpe added a RBI; Lincoln Nelson scored twice as Dexter McIntosh scored.

Heath Poland (51 pitches) picked up the win in three innings allowing an earned  run off two hits while striking out six batters and hitting two. McIntosh (33) worked an inning allowing an earned run while striking out two batters and walking four. Weston Nelson (13) pitched the final inning allowing one run off two hits while striking out one batter.
