The Wayne High bowling team reached the semifinals before losing in the Class C division of the Nebraska High School Bowling Federation state tournament Saturday in Lincoln.
Wayne High finished third in the four-game team race that set up seeding for the Baker-series brackets, placing three individual bowlers in the top 10. Ronnie Forney finished third with a 513 for a four-game series, Emily Claussen was eighth with a 488 and Collin Claussen finished 10th overall with a 477.
In the Baker-series bracket, Wayne opened the tournament with a 3-0 win over Boone Central, winning 126-115, 180-166 and 140-139. They moved on to the semifinals, where they lost a tough five-game series to Broken Bow, taking the first two games before the Indians came back to win 104-145, 145-151, 177-157, 174-130, 159-146.
