Streaks were on the line for two Mid State Conference boys basketball teams closing out their regular season Friday night.
From Pierce, Wayne visited Pierce with potential of again matching up during the postseason.
Wayne High picked up a 49-37 victory against the host Bluejays.
Pierce held the early 11-6 first quarter lead as Wayne answered thanks to an 18-11 second quarter to go up 24-22 at half. The Blue Devils outscored Pierce, 8-4 in the third and 17-11 in the fourth. Final favored Wayne winning 49-37 snapping a three-game losing streak to improve to 19-5 as the Bluejays saw their four game winning streak snapped falling to 9-14.
Wayne leaders were junior Jace Jorgensen (missed past few games with sprained ankle) with 20 points, senior Gavin Redden followed with 10 points as sophomore Jaxson Kneifl added nine points.
Other scoring came from senior Kaden Keller with seven points and senior Colson Nelsen tallied three points (1-2 FT).
The Blue Devils finished 9-12 (7-10 in fourth) from the foul line
Pierce was led in scoring by junior Keaton Frazier with 15 points as junior Brock Collison added 12 points.
The Bluejays shot 6-9 at the charity stripe.
