The possibility of constructing a splash pad in Wayne, an update on the old City Hall and what are the best uses for a city-owned property in the northeast portion of Wayne were among the topics discussed during the Wayne City Council's mini-retreat on June 29.
Emma Erwin, Morgan Erwin and Lanie Severson shared information with the council during the retreat on a possible location for the splash pad, similar facilities in other communities, cost estimates, and possible sources of funding.
The three talked about what a splash pad would add to the city and noted that it would be able to be open for a longer period of time during the summer, have a zero depth entry and handicap access.
Another item on the agenda during the retreat was discussion on Flyover Demographics lease on the former Wayne City Hall.
Jeremy Wynia, owner of Flyover Demographics, told the council "everything is going great and I am starting to go in the right direction."
Council members also spent considerable time discussing the best uses for approximately 61 acres of city-owned land north of 14th Street.
City Planner Joel Hansen said he had worked on a possible plan for the lots which he told the council "this is just an idea on how the area could be split up."
The Wayne City Council will next meet in regular session on Monday, July 6 at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers.
