The Wayne High cross country teams kicked off the season Friday at the Boone Central Invitational, held at the Albion Country Club.
The girls placed third as a team with 59 points and had two runners finish in the top 10. Gabi Meyer led the way, placing sixth in 20:42, while Andrea Torres was two seconds behind in seventh place.
Molly Hoskins finished 19th in 21:41 and Emily Chamberlain was 29th in 22:52 to round out Wayne’s team scoring. Sarah Greenwald was 33rd in 23:18 and Madison Jenkins placed 51st in 25:07.
In boys action, Wayne was eighth with 150 points and was led by Christopher Woerdemann, who was 23rd in 18:13.
Brandon Wacker placed 39th in 19:20, Treyton Blecke was 53rd in 20:25, Cole Hobza placed 78th in 21:42 and Liam Spieker was 82nd in 22:02.
Wayne will run in the Norfolk Catholic Invitational on Friday, Sept. 8, and will host their annual meet on Monday, Sept. 11 at the Wayne Country Club.
