Wayne Dolphins compete in North Bend Relay, 10 events completed

A storm-shortened weekday meet only allowed for 10 events to be scored during the North Bend Relay Meet.

From the North Bend Pool on Monday, June 16, the Wayne Dolphins finished second with 70 combined points in the mixed team division. The North Bend Sharks totaled 82 points while the Blair Swim placed third with 67 points.

Event wins were posted by the 11-12 mixed 100m medley with Elladee Ronhovde (backstroke), Kate Patefield (breaststroke), Liberty Swinton (butterlfy) and Ryker Heithold (freestyle) during a time of 1:33.54.

Runner-up times were posted in the 13-14 mixed 100m medley with Kendall Klein (backstroke), Brinley Cliff (breaststroke), Penelope Zavada-Cupp (butterfly) and Alex Ziska (freestyle) during a time of 1:15.41 as well as the 11-12 mixed Fly/Free relay with Liberty Swinton, Elladee Ronhovde, Ryker Hiethold and Kate Patefield in 1:27.53.

Upcoming on Saturday, June 21 will be the 2025 Wayne Invitational #1 at 9 a.m. from the Wayne Community Activity Center & Aquatic Center.

 

 

Wayne Dolphins win Fremont Invite, Henry Craig earns Swimmer of the Week

A second meet is in the books for the Wayne Dolphins following June 14 competition.

From the Fremont YMCA pool, 33 athletes represented the Dolphins during the 2025 Fremont Invitational.

Wayne secured a second overall team win with 549 total points while the West Point Dolphins held off the Fremont Area Swim Team for second (340-331).

In the girls division, Kaylee Parker (girls 11-12) led the Wayne Dolphins with 41.5 points followed by Emily Gilliland (girls 13-14) with 37.5 points.

Kaylee Parker won the 100-yard individual medley (1:25.12) and the 50-yard butterfly (36.1) along with runner-up results in the 50-yard backstroke (39.34) and 50-yard freestyle (33.09). She also was on the winning 200-yard mixed freestyle relay with Kate Patefield, Ryker Heithold and Liberty Swinton in a time of 2:30.86 along with a second place finish with the 200-yard mixed medley relay performing the backstroke with Kate Patefield (breaststroke), Liberty Swinton (butterfly) and Ryker Heithold (freestyle) during a time of 3:04.29.

Emily Gilliland won the 100-yard individual medley (1:13.58) and 50-yard freestyle (28.54) along with runner-up times in the 50-yard butterfly (33.84) and 50-yard backstroke (38.96). She also scored points during a fourth place finish with the 200-yard mixed medley relay performing the freestyle with Kendall Klein (backstroke), Benjamin Patefield (breaststroke) and Elsie Gilliland (butterfly) in a time of 2:21.48.

During the boys division, Kyler Parker (mens 15-18) scored the most points overall for the Wayne Dolphins with 46 points while Nolan Plager (boys 8 and under) added 43 points.

Kyler Parker won the 100-yard individual medley (1:01.22), 50-yard butterfly (26.88), 50-yard backstroke (29.73) and 50-yard freestyle (25.16). He was also on winning mixed relays for the 200-yard medley performing the butterfly with Cole Zach (backstroke) , Haley Brogren (breaststroke) and Colton Sebade (freestyle) in 2:09 as well as the 200-yard freestyle with Elsie Gilliland, Cole Zach and Colton Sebade during a time of 1:52.81.

Nolan Plager won the 100-yard individual medley (2:32.09), 25-yard butterfly (27.44) and 25-yard freestyle (21.76) as well as a runner-up finish in the 25-yard backstroke (34.98). He was also on a winning mixed relay during the 100-yard medley performing the freestyle with Dawsyn Smith (backstroke), Lily McLaughlin (breaststroke) and Kamdyn Parker (butterfly) in 2:08.38 as well as a third place finish for the 100-yard freestyle mixed relay with Kamdyn Parker, Cora McLaughlin and Dean Junck during a time of 2:09.83.

Also, for the week (meets of West Point Invite on June 11 and Fremont Invite on June 14), Henry Craig (boys 11-12) was selected as the 'Swimmer of the Week'.

Wayne Dolphins coach Jaden Todd said, “Henry has been nothing but respectful and hard working. Every time I teach him how to do the stroke properly, he executes it with precision. For his first year of being on the swim team, he looks like a fifth year swimmer to me. Good job Henry, keep up the good work.”

Craig started the swim season with 15 points in West Point led by a runner-up time in the 50-meter breaststroke (1:08.28). He also competed in the 100-meter individual medley, 50-meter backstroke, 50-meter freestyle and the 200-meter mixed freestyle relay.

On June 14, Craig scored 15 points in Fremont led by third place results during the 100-yard individual medley (2:14.07) and 50-yard breaststroke (1:01.47). He also competed in the 200-yard mixed medley relay performing the butterfly, 50-yard butterfly, 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard mixed freestyle relay.

 

 

Wayne Dolphins Swim Team June 11 West Point meet results

With nine meets on the schedule, youth with the Wayne Dolphins began a busy week of swimming with three events in six days.

From West Point, the Wayne Dolphins were represented during the 2025 West Point Invitational #1 on Wednesday, June 11.

There were 60 events from eight & under; 9-10; 11-12; 13-14 as well as 15-18 age divisions.

Wayne Dolphins sent 41 athletes and scored 694 points to win the invite well ahead of the West Point Dolphins (25 athletes) who totaled 435 points among the six teams.

In the girls division, Wayne Dolphins were led by Clara Ankeny (15-18) who scored 46 points as Kaylee Parker (11-12) followed with 44 points.

Ankeny (15-18 womens) won the 100m individual medley (1:26.51), 50m butterfly (36.47), 50m breaststroke (44.83) and 50m freestyle (33.52). She was also on winning mixed relays of the 200m medley performing the freestyle with Cole Zach (backstroke), Haley Brogren (breaststroke) and Colton Sebade (butterfly) in a time of 2:33.15 as well as the 200m freestyle with Zach, Sebade and Kyler Parker during a time of 2:06.65.

Kaylee Parker (11-12 girls) won the 50m butterfly (42.27), 50m backstroke (42.83) and 50m freestyle (36.25) as well as a second place finish in the 100m individual medley (1:37.83). She was also on winning mixed relays of 200m medley performing the backstroke  with Kate Patefield (breaststroke), Liberty Swinton (butterfly) and Ryker Heithold (freestyle) in 3:26.5 as well as 200m freestyle with Heithold, Swinton and Patefield during a time of 2:53.31.

During the boys division, Kyler Parker (15-18) totaled 43 points as Ryker Heithold (11-12), Thomas Plager (9-10) and Cole Zach (15-18) all scored 40 points.

Kyler Parker (15-18 mens) won 50m butterfly (29.84), 50m backstroke (32.46), 50m breaststroke (37.97) and 50m freestyle (27.69). He was also on the winning mixed relay that was listed earlier with Clara Ankeny.

Heithold (11-12 boys) won the 50m breastroke (1:05) while taking home second place in the 100m individual medley (1:51), 50m butterfly (51.63) and 50m freestyle (38.88). He was also listed on the winning 200m medley and 200m freestyle relays with Kaylee Parker (earlier in article).

Thomas Plager (9-10 boys)won the 100m individual medley (2:05.16) and 25m butterfly (23.25); took second in the 25m breaststroke (33.45) and third in the 25m freestyle (20.78). He also was on the winning mixed relays of the 100m medley performing the butterfly with Elizabeth Kuchta (backstroke), Megan Gilliland (breaststroke) and Lennox Smith (freestyle) in 1:41.83 as well as the 100m freestyle with Smith, Kuchta and Gilliland during a time of 1:28.28.

Cole Zach (15-18 men) won the 100m individual medley (1:15.9) along with runner-up times in the 50m butterfly (33.81), 50m backstroke (37.06) and 50m freestyle (29.44). He was also on winning mixed relays with Clara Ankeny (posted earlier).
