Wayne girls collect three medals; Wakefield girls also compete during Winnebago Lady Indian Invite

It’s been since Dec. 21 for both the Wayne and Wakefield girls wrestling teams were last in action on the mat against an opponent.

From Winnebago, the Blue Devils and Trojans were among the 40 total programs during the Winnebago Lady Indian Invite on Friday.

The Wayne girls sent 14 wrestlers and tied for 13th with Conestoga (65.5 points) while the Wakefield girls had 10 in action to tie for 30th with NEN and Hemingford (13 points).

Norfolk won the Winnebago Girls Invite with 193.5 points, Yutan followed in runner-up (151), Omaha North took third (124) as Battle Creek and Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon (SD) tied for four both with 103.5 points.

The Wayne girls were led by Nyla Bolles (135) in third place with 18.5 points while Essynce Owens-Webb (100) and Anna Naeve (145) both placed fourth with 16 points and 14 points respectively.

Other scoring came from Gracelynn Daniels (115), Megan Magnuson (125) and Kadence Rees (155) all added four points; Lupita Alba (105) with three points and Macy Wilson (120) tallied two points.

Others in action were Andrea Bacillio (100) placed second in the JV division; Hannah Burris (115) won the JV division; Alexa Chavez (140); Ivette Ozuna (145) won the JV division; Janelly Lucas (190) and Jasmine Contreras (235).

The Wakefield girls were led by Natale Nelson (190) with seven points, Naomi Nelson (140) added four points and Jazmynn Scott (155) followed with two points.

Others in action were Jennifer Cornejo (100), Erica Chicaj Pol (110), Katelyn Walsh (115), Maria Perez (120), Angie Miranda (125) and Melony Manjarrez (135), Mirella Ruvalcaba (115) placed fifth in the JV division.
