KEARNEY – The Wayne High girls cross country team came home with a fifth-place finish in Class C action at the Nebraska State Cross Country Championships at the Kearney Country Club.
Sophomore Hannah Leonard led the Blue Devils and earned her second state medal, finishing 11th in a time of 20:43.29. Senior Marta Pulfer just missed out on a medal, finishing 22nd in 21:24.86.
Also running were junior Andrea Torres (44th, 22:02.33), sophomore Gabi Meyer (66th, 22:40.75), junior Marcella Jurotich (74th, 23:16.64) and junior Molly Hoskins (84th, 24:07.38).
In Class D boys action, Winside's Dylan Brogren finished 82nd, coming home from his first trip to state in a time of 19:03.7.
