Wayne girls finish second led by Bolles and Rees, runner-up results from Grant Maas (V) and Keaton Gregory (JV) lead Blue Devil boys

One week after competing in the Mid State Conference wrestling tournament, the Wayne High girls and boys wrestling teams were back in Albion.

From Boone Central High School, there were 16 girls teams who scored points and 14 boys teams which recorded scoring during the Dale Bonge Invitational Boone Central Invite.

The Wayne High girls finished runner-up (just five points from first) with 151 points among their 12 wrestlers while the Blue Devil boys tied for 12th with 47 points among their 15 wrestlers.

West Holt held off Wayne High in the girls division, 156-151 points, Arlington took third (141), Crofton-Bloomfield placed fourth (135) and Elkhorn Valley rounded out the top five teams with 105.5 points.

Wayne High leaders were champions of Nyla Bolles (135) and Kadence Rees (155). Bolles recorded her 100th win in the finals.

Lupita Alba (105) and Anna Naeve (145) both followed runner-up, Serenity Heil-Ellis (125), Ivette Ozuna (140) and Jasmine Contreras (235) all placed third as Andrea Bacilio (100) and Macy Wilson (120) both took sixth.

Other scoring came from Gracelynn Daniels (115) and Megan Magnuson (130) as Alexa Chavez (130) was also in action.

Aquinas Catholic won the boys division with 160 points, Crofton-Bloomfield followed in runner-up (146.5), Elkhorn Valley took third (122.5), the host Boone Central placed fourth (112.5) as Pierce rounded out the top five teams with 107.5 points.

Wayne High leaders were Grant Maas (150) in second followed by Ethan Gregory (120) in fourth. Grady Maas (106) took fifth as Emmanuel Gonzalez (106) and Zander Liston (165) both placed sixth.

Other scoring came from Will Leseberg (126) and Noah Magnuson (132) while Thomas Raymundo (138) and Taven Ocampo (157) were also in action.

JV results were led by Keaton Gregory (215) placed second as Alvaro Archundia (113) and Trecyn Ocampo (132) both took fourth. Cameron Hays (126), Weston Patefield (138) and Daevin Casarrubia (144) were also in action.

The Wayne High girls will next compete in the Class A-2 Girls Districts on Saturday, Feb. 8 hosted by Kearney. The Wayne boys will travel to the Wakefield Invite on Saturday, Feb. 8.
