Schools separated by nearly 20 miles took part in weeknight competition on the court.
From Laurel-Concord-Coleridge High School, the Bears played host to Wayne High Tuesday night.
The Wayne High girls secured a 58-38 win during a rematch with LCC while the Blue Devil boys picked up a 53-26 victory against the host Bears.
The Wayne girls also won back on December 28 during the semifinal round of their home holiday tournament over LCC, 48-35.
In the girls game, Wayne led 11-6 after the opening quarter before using an 18-11 second quarter advantage to go up 29-17 at half. The Blue Devils outscored Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, 19-9 in the third as the Bears won the fourth, 12-10. Final favored Wayne High winning 58-38 to pick up their third straight win now at 8-7 as LCC dropped their seventh straight falling to 5-9.
In total, 10 scored for Wayne being led by sophomore Addison Frank with 12 points on three made three’s, junior Haley Kramer added 10 points as nine-point scoring came from juniors Reagan McGuire and Elle Powicki.
Other scoring came from junior Claire Lutter with six points, sophomore Alexis Legler tallied four points, freshman Audrey Lutter and sophomore Mallory Redden both followed with three points as sophomore Lily Gubbels and junior Lilyan Hurner each scored a point.
The Blue Devils finished 11-16 from the foul line.
LCC leaders were sophomore Rena Rasmussen and Kaida Eriksen both with 12 points. Sophomore Carlie Kvols added eight points as senior Lainey Schutte poured in six points.
The Bears shot 9-12 at the charity stripe.
During the boys outing, Wayne took a 12-7 lead after the first quarter and followed with a 10-3 scoring clip in the second to lead 22-10 at the break. The Blue Devils outscored Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, 14-7 in the third and 17-9 in the fourth. Final favored Wayne winning 53-26 marking their fourth straight win improving to 13-1 as LCC dropped their ninth consecutive game falling to 4-9.
Wayne High leaders were junior Jace Jorgensen with 15 points while senior Colson Nelsen finished with 13 points.
Other scoring came from junior Drew Reinhardt with nine points, senior Kaden Keller added eight points, three-point scoring came from sophomores Chase Nelson and Jaxson Kneifl as senior Gavin Redden added two points.
The Blue Devils finished 5-10 from the foul line.
LCC was led in scoring by senior Eli Haisch with six points as senior Caleb Erwin and sophomore Tanner Thompson both added five points.
Other scoring came from senior Gibson Roberts and sophomore Cade Johnson both with four points as senior Carter Korth tallied two points.
The Bears shot 2-8 at the charity stripe.
The Wayne High girls will next visit Norfolk Catholic on Friday, January 17 for a rescheduled girls-only game (previously on February 11) while the Wayne boys will travel to Boys Town on Saturday, January 18. Both Blue Devil teams will play at Crofton on Tuesday, January 21.
LCC will next visit Walthill this Friday.
