The Wayne High track and field teams competed in the Columbus Scotus Relays on Tuesday, with the girls finishing fourth and the boys placing sixth in the eight-team invitational.
Wayne brought home one first-place finish in girls action, as the triple jump tandem of Kylie Hammer, Katelyn Grone, Josie Thompson and Skylar Cooper won their event.
The Wayne girls had three second-place finishes, including the discus (Jenna Trenhaile, Annie Kniesche, Allison Claussen, Faith Junck), 250 hurdles relay (Kelsey Boyer, Sidney Biggerstaff, Caitlin Janke, Erin O’Reilly) and the 1,600-meter relay (Boyer, Kiara Hochstein Gabi Meyer, Hammer).
Wayne also had a pair of third-place efforts in the long jump (Hammer, Grone, Thompson, Cooper) and 400 freshman relay (Cooper, Korrina Niemann, Thompson, Maysn Dorey).
In boys action, Wayne came home with a pair of runner-up finishes in the high jump (Jack Evetovich, Collin Clausen, Ryan Jaixen, Cody Rogers) and triple jump (Alex Ecthenkamp, Marcus Fertig, Will Anderson, Rogers). They also finished third in the pole vault with Nolan Reynolds, Echtenkamp, Cameron Muhs and Isaac Cliff.
Wayne will host the Blue Devil Invitational on Tuesday, April 4, with field events starting at 1 p.m. and running events at 3:15 p.m.
