Following a 10-day break, the Wayne High girls golf team returned to the course for northeast Nebraska competition.
From Evergreen Hill Golf Course, the Blue Devils posted their lowest score of the season of 405 during the Battle Creek Invite on Sept. 15 to place third.
Head Wayne coach Josh Johnson said, "it was so nice to get back on the course on Monday after a ten day break. We were able to work on a lot of things last week and it really showed. The girls played the best so far this year and we look forward to getting back to work on Tuesday. It gets pretty busy for us now and we are looking forward to making a positive push towards Conference and Districts."
Carli Canham captured gold for the Wayne girls carding a round of 82 among the 47 golfers. Her score set a new Wayne High girls golf record for the Battle Creek course.
Rylynn Owen brought home a 13th place medal (100) followed by Hallie Heithold (104) and Claire Reinke (119).
West Holt held off Battle Creek (378 - 383) to win the invite.
The Wayne High girls golf team returns home on Thursday, Sept. 18 for a triangular at the Wayne Country Club. The Blue Devils will host Pierce and Cedar Catholic starting at 4 p.m.
WHS will also travel to the Albion Country Club on Saturday, September 20 for the Boone Central Invite starting at 9 a.m.
