The Wayne High Lady Blue Devils girls golf team travelled to Hartington on Monday for the Cedar Catholic Invitational.  The weather was absolutely perfect for a day of golf at Hartington Golf Club.  The course threw at the girls its tight fairways, rows of trees, deep sand bunkers, and small but fast greens.

The Wayne High Girls got off to a hot start on the front nine shooting 176.  Leading the way for Wayne on the front was Charli Sievers with a 39 followed by Joslyn Johnson (41), Carli Canham (46), Hallie Heithold (49) and Lindsay Niemann (50).

The back nine saw the Lady Blue Devils continue to cruise into the clubhouse with a back nine 181.  Wayne would end up shooting a season low 357 to win the Invite with LCC following in second with a 412.  In individual play, after 18 holes Joslyn Johnson and Charli Sievers found themselves with the low score of the tournament, each carding an 84.  The two would go to hole 9 for a playoff.  Both girls would miss the green.  Sievers would put her chip close and seal the playoff win.

Other scorers and medalists for Wayne were 3rd place medalist Carli Canham (86), 9th place Lindsay Niemann (103), 13th place Hallie Heithold (108), and Rylynn Owen (116).

Wayne travels to Laurel on Saturday, Sept. 28th.

“Girls really played well today. They stayed loose all day and were able to bounce back from bad shots/holes for the most part. It was a ton of fun today!!” -- Coach Johnson
