NORFOLK — Wayne High’s girls finished second and the Blue Devil boys placed third in Thursday’s Mid State Conference cross country meet at Skyview Lake.
In girls action, freshman Essynce Owens-Webb paced the Wayne team with a fourth-place finish, coming home in 22:35.63. Ava Elliott followed in eighth place (23:09.45), with Lilyan Hurner finishing 11th (23:40.63) and Josie Ley 16th (24:01.63). Kennasyn Blecke was 19th and Olivia Hanson finished 20th for the Wayne varsity.
Wayne’s JV runners also ran well, led by Norah Armstrong in 17th place, Yama Kantai in 28th, Sophia Spieker in 39th and Sharon Vasquez in 40th.
In boys competition, Emannuel Gonzalez led the way with a sixth-place time of 18:12.20, followed by Alex Frank in 12th at 18:42.32 and Alejandro Archundia in 14th at 18:44.38. Camden Hall was 18th, Boden Dobbins placed 22nd and Kasen York was 23rd.
In JV action, Adrian Klinetobe was 27th, Mason Ley placed 34th, Cole Zach was 37th, Landen Claussen placed 47th, Lance Brink was 59th, Konnor Kai placed 66th, Parker Kesting was 73rd and Cale Eischeid finished 81st.
Wayne will host district competition next Thursday at Wayne Country Club.
