Wayne girls start season 2-0, boys sit 1-1

After having a Saturday game postponed due to weather, the Wayne High girls and boys basketball teams wrapped up a two-game schedule over a five-day period.

The Blue Devil girls picked up a home win of 45-36 over Battle Creek on Dec. 5 and recently won 55-19 over Wakefield on their home court on Dec. 9. Wayne is 2-0.

The Wayne boys won 36-33 against Battle Creek and dropped a 59-58 decision to Wakefield. The Blue Devils are 1-1.

In girls action, Addison Frank scored 17 points on five made three-pointers against Battle Creek while Haley Kramer followed with 13 points including 8-8 at the foul line. Kramer also led the team in assists (three) and steals (four).

Reagan McGuire tallied a team-high five boards.

Dec. 9 top scoring was posted by Frank with 17 points as Kramer followed with eight points. All 12 players who saw action scored.

During boys competition, Jace Jorgensen recorded 14 points (6-8 FT) and two steals against Battle Creek.

Brodey Munter followed with eight points as Theo Claussen grabbed a team-high four boards.

Wayne only turned the ball over eight times.

Dec. 9 top scoring came from Jorgensen (19), Jaxson Kneifl (17 - four made three's) and Drew Reinhardt (13). Reinhardt knocked down three three-pointers in the third quarter.

The Wayne at Ponca DH was recheduled from Dec. 6 to Dec. 22.

Next up for Wayne basketball will be at Wahoo on Dec. 12 (JV starts at 4:30 p.m.) and hosting Lakeview on Dec. 13 (JV starts at 1 p.m.).
