After having a road bowling dual postponed earlier in the week in Omaha, it was back to northeast Nebraska competition for Wayne High.
From Kings Lanes in Norfolk, the Blue Devils visited Norfolk High during dual competition on Thursday.
The Wayne girls lost 17-4 while the Blue Devil boys won 17-4.
In the girls competition, it was Class B #1 Wayne taking on Class A #1 Norfolk. Norfolk got off to an early lead but Wayne would fight back. Wayne would take a small lead into the ninth frame but a strong finish by the Panthers proved too much and Norfolk would win game one’s pinfall match 857-841. Individual match winners for Wayne in game one were Madi Janke (150) and Lindsay Niemann (213). Other scorers for the Lady Blue Devils were McKaeya Becker (158), Sammi Gubbels (190) and Graycen Trautman (130).
In game two, Wayne would struggle out of the gate and would quickly fall behind the host team. Wayne would be unable to recover from the slow start and would lose the pinfall match in game two 840-766. Winning individual matches in game two were Graycen Trautman (173) and Lindsay Niemann (181). Other scorers for Wayne in game two were Madi Janke (147), McKaeya Becker / Rylin Hall (116), and Sammi Gubbels (140).
Wayne would shoot a 181 in the Baker games but come up three pins short as Norfolk would win the girls match 17-4.
During the boys action, Wayne came out firing and would build a quick lead and then look to increase it as game one continued. The Blue Devils pushed the lead and ran away with game one winning the pinfall match 1044-813. Winning individual matches in game one were Dylan Jensen (223), Blake Smith (210), Ben Haschke (190) and Konnor Kai (218). Also scoring in game one was Aiden Petersen (203).
The Blue Devils would struggle a bit in game two as the lanes were transitioning. Wayne had a hard time finding the right move. The Blue Devils and Panthers would stay close throughout the game. Wayne did enough down the stretch to win the pinfall match 939-920. Winning individual matches in game two were Dylan Jensen (202) and Ben Haschke (181). Also scoring for Wayne in game two were Blake Smith (154), Konnor Kai (168) and Aiden Petersen (234).
The Blue Devil boys would go on to win the Baker game 235-146 and win the overall match 17-4.
Wayne JV also bowled. On the boys side Wayne would win game one 875-798. Leading the way and winning individual points in game one for Wayne was Tyler Johnson (210), Brodrick Tiedtke (152) and Jamison Meyer (211). Other scorers for Wayne were Zane Sievers (155) and Alex Rodriguez (147).
Game two would come down to the wire. After all was thrown the Blue Devils would hold on to a 734-731 victory. Winning matches in game two were Tyler Johnson (136) and Brodrick Tiedtke (177). Other scorers for Wayne were Zane Sievers (106), Jamison Meyer (173) and Alex Rodriguez (142).
The Blue Devils would win the Baker game 224-106.
In other JV action, Mahlik Campbell had scores of 172 and 142, Rylee Durant (76, 114 & 123), Lilliana Culy (136, 72, & 105), Lucas Allemann (95 and 87), Samantha Wright (103, 84 & 116) and Madi Korth (95, 110 & 160) and Carlyle Young (109).
