Wayne girls, Winside girls, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge boys and Tri County Northeast girls basketball along with Wayne State College women's and men's basketball were in action on Feb. 5.
From O'Neill during the consolation semifinal round of the Mid State Conference Tournament, #6 Wayne girls picked up a 46-38 win against #10 Cedar Catholic.
The Blue Devils (12-10) will next compete in the Mid State Conference fifth place game on Feb. 7 at Northeast Community College starting at 10 a.m. against #4 Pierce.
The fifth-seeded Wayne boys (11-9) are back on the court in Albion (Boone Central) on Feb. 6 during the semifinal round taking on #1 Norfolk Catholic at 7:30 p.m.
From Norfolk (Lutheran High Northeast) during the semifinal round of the Greater Northeast Activities Conference Tournament, #6 LCC boys dropped a 63-60 decision in overtime against #2 Plainview.
The Bears (7-13) will next compete in the third place game on Feb. 7 in Laurel at 3 p.m. against #4 Elkhorn Valley.
The third-seeded Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls (14-7) return to action on Feb. 6 during the semifinal round in Tilden (Elkhorn Valley) facing #2 West Holt at 7:30 p.m.
From Wausa during the Lewis and Clark Conference girls basketball tournament, #6 Winside suffered a 50-48 loss against #7 Walthill while #8 Tri County Northeast lost 43-36 against #4 Wausa.
The Winside girls (7-14) finished the tourney going 1-2 and will next host Stanton with their boys team on Feb. 10 at 6/7:45 p.m.
The TCNE girls (4-16) also went 1-2 in the tournament and are off until Feb. 9 visiting Wakefield for a make-up game with their boys team starting at 4 p.m. for JV action.
Moving into the boys consolation round for Lewis and Clark Conference tourney play, #6 Winside (5-13) will match-up against #10 Tri County Northeast (3-16) on Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Walthill. The winner will advance to the fifth place game.
The seventh-seeded Wakefield boys (12-7) will compete in the East Husker Conference consolation round on Feb. 6. Location, opponent and time coming soon.
The 14th seeded Wakefield girls (3-17) went 0-2 during the EHC tourney and will next host Tri County Northeast with their boys team on Feb. 9 starting at 4 p.m.
From Winona, MN, the Wayne State College women's basketball team suffered a 79-57 loss while the Wildcat men saw a five-game winning streak snapped following a 60-57 decision at Winona State University.
The WSC women (10-13, 5-11 NSIC) and men (14-9, 10-7, NSIC) will be off until Feb. 7 visiting Concordia-St. Paul in St. Paul, MN at 1/3 p.m.
