Four of the five Wayne Herald area high school basketball programs took center stage along with Wakefield girls wrestling and Kyler Parker representing the Wayne boys co-op with Norfolk swimming.
From Wayne, the Wayne High girls suffered a 42-38 loss while the Blue Devil boys won 62-32 against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge.
The Wayne girls (9-6) will next host Norfolk Catholic on Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m. with the Blue Devil boys (8-6, snapped a four-game losing streak) next in action hosting Boys Town on Jan. 17 at 5:30 p.m.
The LCC girls (8-6, back-to-back wins) and boys (4-8, dropped third straight) are off until Jan. 16 hosting Summerland starting at 4:30 p.m.
From Macy, the Winside girls dropped a 74-39 decision while the Winside boys lost 80-40 at Omaha Nation.
The Winside girls (5-8) and boys (5-8, dropped third straight) will next visit Walthill on Jan. 15 at 6/8 p.m.
From Winnebago, the Tri County Northeast girls lost 70-49 while the Allen/Emerson-Hubbard co-op boys suffered a 91-67 loss at Winnebago.
The TCNE girls (3-8, dropped fourth straight) and boys (2-11, dropped fifth straight) will next visit Hartington-Newcastle on Jan. 15 starting at 4:45 p.m.
From Scribner, the Wakefield girls wrestling team was right back on the mat at the Scribner-Snyder Quad.
The Trojans picked up wins of 42-12 over Cedar Bluffs, 42-36 against Lyons-Decatur Northeast and 42-12 over Scribner-Snyder.
Next up for Wakefield girls wrestling will be the Battle Creek Invite on Jan. 19 at 10:30 a.m. (boys host triangular on Jan. 15 at 6 p.m.).
From Columbus High, the Norfolk boys swimming team won 130-42 against the Discoverers.
