July 14 showcased a fourth and fifth meeting between Wayne and West Point in Junior American Legion baseball action while the Wakefield Post 81 Seniors added a game to their schedule.
It was back to West Point for a fifth straight day of the Class B Area 5 Tourney on July 14.
#3 Rolling Hills Supply Wayne Post 43 first secured an 8-4 victory over #1 West Point to force the winner-take-all final.
In game number six over a five-day-period, the Wayne Jrs suffered a 10-2 loss against West Point and finished Area runner-up.
Previous meetings this summer have favored West Point of 7-1 in West Point on June 24, 11-0 in Arlington during the RBL consolation round on July 5 and this past Sunday in West Point (8-3) during the Area tourney.
Wayne (16-9) is hosting the Class B Junior State Tourney July 18-22 and has automatically qualified as West Point will represent the Area 5 qualifier.
The Wayne Jrs will next host Class B state beginning on July 18 with at 10 a.m. outing against the Area 4 champion of Aurora Post 42. A proposed schedule was submitted to the state legion officials for approval.
From Eaton Field in Wakefield, the Post 81 Srs dropped a 14-1 decision against Lakeview.
Wakefield (7-9) will next host the Class C Area 2 Tourney beginning on July 24 with a bracket to be announced the week of the tourney.
