June 21 was all about bracket play for the Wayne Youth Baseball Tourney while weather affected both Dirt Devil softball and Wakefield Post 81 Senior American Legion baseball.

The Wayne Ponies also concluded their Tri County League regular season schedule.

From the Summer Sports Complex, all three Wayne Tourney teams were in action.

The 14U Division was on schedule, 12U was delayed one hour and 10U had a two-hour delay.

In the Pony Division, the Wayne Tourney team earned a fifth place finish thanks to a 15-3 win over North Bend. Wayne went 1-2 in their home tourney.

Other Pony scores: O'Neill won 13-4 over Blair to finish third and Ashland won 5-4 over Twin River to place first.

 

During the Bronco Division, the Wayne Tourney team went 1-1 in a pair of one-run games.

Wayne 12U finished pool play with a 3-2 win over Hartington (Koch) before placing fourth following a 4-3 loss to Wahoo. Wayne went 2-2 on the weekend.

Other Bronco scores: Hartington (Leise) won 10-1 over Pierce (pool play) and O'Neill won 6-5 over Hartington (Leise) to finish first.

 

From the Didget Division, the Wayne Tourney team finished runner-up following a 12-1 loss to O'Neill in the first place game. Wayne 10U went 2-2 on the weekend.

Other Didget scores: Logan View won 7-0 over Bellwood to finish third.

 

As two Dirt Devil teams prepared for Gold and two more in Silver bracket play, weather canceled the remainder of the 34th annual Father's Day Tourney in Yankton, SD on June 21.

The Dirt Devil 16/18s (18-10) were scheduled to compete in the Gold bracket after going 2-1 in pool play.

The Dirt Devils will next visit West Point on June 24 at 6:30/8 p.m.

 

The Dirt Devil 14s (21-9-1) were also set to play in the Gold bracket following a 3-0 finish in pool play.

The Dirt Devils are next scheduled to visit Dakota Valley on June 24 at 6/7:30 p.m.

 

The Dirt Devil 12s (3-28-1) were scheduled to compete in the Silver bracket after going 0-3 in pool play.

The Dirt Devils will conclude their season on June 23 visiting Yankton Fury Storm at 6/7:30 p.m.

 

Dirt Devil 10s Black (12-16-1) was able to win their semifinal Silver bracket game of 6-5 over Sioux City Futures 9U - Bratvold before the championship game was called off due to weather.

Their season is now complete.

 

Dirt Devil 10s Red took part in the Logan Valley League tourney in West Point and went 3-2 overall to finish top 10 in their division after entering as one of the last place teams.

They were able to play twice on June 21 splitting games with a 6-4 win over Fremont - Paden before being eliminated with a 5-2 loss against the Oakland Rockets.

The Dirt Devils (9-18) are off until June 26 at West Point starting at 6 p.m.

 

After the Wakefield Post 81 Juniors (3-8) finished third in Creighton, the Senior Legion Berry Pepper Tourney was called off due to weather on June 21.

The Wakefield Post 81 Seniors (5-5) will next join their Jrs team (2-7) on June 22 hosting Wisner-Pilger/Dodge-Howells at 5:30/8 p.m. Juniors will play first.

 

Both Wayne Pony (14U) Tri County League teams concluded their regular season at the Summer Sports Complex.

Wayne White secured a 7-1 win over Wisner to now sit 11-1 overall (11-0 TRICO) while Wayne Blue suffered an 11-2 loss against Logan View to falling to 4-7.

Tri County League Pony Tourney play will begin on June 23. Wayne White earned the #1 seed and will host #16 West Point Aardvarks at 6:30 p.m. while #13 Wayne Blue will visit #4 Stanton at 5:30 p.m.
