A Subdistrict champion was crowned while two other Wayne Herald area volleyball programs advanced to their respective Subdistrict final on Oct. 28.
Back in Emerson for a second straight night, the D1-4 Subdistrict Tournament concluded with #1 Tri County Northeast securing a five-set victory over #2 Cedar Catholic (19-25, 25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 15-9).
D1-4 bracket.
The Wolfpack improved to 24-5 and will earn an automatic qualifying spot among the 12 subdistrict champions where four wildcard teams will be re-seeded 1-16 for a district final set for Nov. 1.
The higher seed will host the district final with the eight winners advancing to state.
District final pairings will be posted on thewayneherald.com once available.
Both Wayne and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge began postseason competition following day one byes.
From Battle Creek during the C1-6 Subdistrict, #2 Wayne swept #3 O'Neill (25-18, 25-23, 25-21).
C1-6 bracket.
The Blue Devils (21-12) will next face the host #1 Battle Creek on Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. during the Subdistrict final. The Bravettes (19-12) survived a five-set match against #4 Scotus.
On Oct. 16, Wayne suffered a four-set home loss against Battle Creek.
From Oakland during the C2-6 Subdistrict, #2 Laurel-Concord-Coleridge picked up a four-set victory over #3 Elkhorn Valley (25-16, 21-25, 25-21, 25-20).
C2-6 bracket.
LCC (29-3) will return to Oakland on Oct. 29 for the Subdistrict final at 6:30 p.m. taking on #1 Oakland-Craig (27-6) who swept #4 Ponca to advance.
The Bears suffered a 2-0 loss to Oakland-Craig on Sept. 27 during the Elkhorn Valley Invite.
Subdistrict finals for both Wayne and LCC will be played on Wed. Oct. 29. This is a correction from a previous posting. District finals are tabbed for Nov. 1.
