Wayne High blanks South Sioux City, big day at plate for Bolles and Nissen in circle

For the first time this season the Wayne High softball team took to the road.

From South Sioux City, Class B WHS visited the Class A Cardinals on Thursday.

Wayne High bats came out in full force during a 15-0 victory over South Sioux City. The Blue Devils are now 5-2 on the season with SSC falling to 1-8.

Eight runs were driven in during the top of the first. Following a scoreless second, Wayne added seven runs in the third to win 15-0 by run rule. WHS outhit South Sioux City, 18-0 and had one error compared to five errors by the Cardinals.

Nyla Bolles doubled twice, singled, drove in a run and scored three times; Lily Gubbels singled, doubled and scored; Kinnley McGuire singled twice, drove in two runs and scored twice; Mackenzie Nissen singled twice and scored twice; Courtney Roeber singled twice, drove in two runs and scored as Jordyn Gamble singled twice, drove in a run and scored twice.

Lilly Johnson singled, drove in two runs and scored; Reagan McGuire singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Olivia Brandow and Sammi Gubbels both singled and drove in a run as Rylin Hall singled and scored.

Nissen (56 pitches) picked up the complete game no-hitter shutout in three innings while striking out five batters and walking two.
