The Wayne One Act team competed at Districts in Ord on Nov. 30, performing “Cocoanut Soup at the Palace, or If the Marx Brothers Had Performed Oedipus the King”.
This play was a slapstick version of the famous Greek Tragedy.
There were a total of eight schools in the B4 District:  Pierce, Norfolk Catholic, Wayne, West Point-Beemer, O’Neill, Ord, Boone Central and Madison.
Plays are scored on various aspects such as voice, characterization, staging, and timing.
Ord received first place and will go on to the state competition in Norfolk on Friday, Dec. 9.  Pierce received second place and Wayne received third place. A school can receive up to 180 points from judges.
"The schools that came in first, second, and third were all within four points of each other, with Ord earning 178, Pierce earning 176, and Wayne earning 174.  Needless to say, it’s a tough competition!" said Heidi Thompson, Wayne High's coach.
Only the first place team competes at the state level.
Wayne had many students earning Outstanding Actor/Actress awards.  These students were Grace Heithold, Shanda Lambert, Sarah Wibben, Jaci Torres, Maura Loberg, Savannah Leseberg, Symphony Jareske, Megan Lambert, Makayla Heithold, Jack Osnes, Colton Spahr, Megan Duncan, Claire Barnes, RJ Liska, and Aidan Consoli.
