A second home outing allowed the Wayne High girls golf team to showcase their course.
Originally scheduled to be hosted by Elkhorn Valley, the Wayne Country Club played host to a trio of teams during the Wayne Triangular on Tuesday.
The Blue Devil girls golf team shot a nine-hole team low 179 followed by Battle Creek with a 210 while Elkhorn Valley finished with a 278.
Head Wayne High girls golf coach Josh Johnson said, “our score tonight (Tuesday), 179, is a really good team score but some of the girls were extremely disappointed in how they played. That is the great thing about this bunch, they are hungry to get better each day. Last week, Charli Sievers shot a new personal best, Friday it was Hallie Heithold and today (Tuesday) Carli Canham did the same. It is so cool to see them get better and I am excited to see what this team can accomplish.”
WHS was led by the individual champion of Carli Canham with a 39 (personal best) as Joslyn Johnson took second with a 43 and Charli Sievers placed third with a 44.
The top five rounded out with Keira Hestekind from Battle Creek in fourth (49) as MaKenna Hughes, Battle Creek, placed fifth with a 51.
Other Wayne High results came from Hallie Heithold (53), Lindsay Niemann (55), Rylynn Owen (60) and Claire Reinke (93).
Ashlynn Dexter led Elkhorn Valley with a 58.
