Ahead of a competitive district, the Wayne High girls and boys track & field program was looking for more improvement in their respective events with several top northeast Nebraska competition.
From Battle Creek High School, the B-Club Invite attracted eight programs on May 8.
The Wayne High girls finished fourth with 59 points while the Blue Devil boys took sixth with 45 points.
In the girls division, the host Bravettes secured a team win with 145 points, West Holt followed in second (122.6), Columbus Scotus took third (118), Wayne placed fourth (59) and Crofton rounded the top five teams with 58 points.
The Wayne girls were led by gold from the 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Alivia Kesting, freshman Anna Dutcher, junior Jacen Hasemann and freshman Kamden Dobbins (4:19.68) along with silver medals by the 4x800-meter relay team of Kesting junior Lilyan Hurner, Dutcher and junior Nyla Bolles (10:27.86), Hurner during the 3200-meter run (13:56.47) and Kesting in the high jump (4'9").
Junior Elle Powicki took third during the 100-meter hurdles (15.54) and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (50.4). Bolles picked up a PR in the 300-meter hurdles taking third (49.3).
Sophomore Addison Frank placed fourth in the pole vault (9') as Kamden Dobbins also scored in the high jump in fifth (4' 7") and the 400-meter dash with a sixth place time (1:09.99).
During the boys division, the host Braves won the team title with 170 points, West Holt followed in runner-up (125), Cedar Catholic took third (68), Crofton placed fourth (53) and Columbus Scotus rounded out the top five teams with 52 points.
The Blue Devil boys were led by their 4x800-meter relay team of sophomore Emmanuel Gonzalez, sophomore Camden Hall,sophomore Thomas Raymundo Bacillio and senior Kasen York earning a second place finish (8:45.33) as junior Grant Maas took second in the pole vault (13').
Junior Taven Ocampo earned a bronze medal during the 100-meter dash (11.82), junior Boden Dobbins finished third in the 800-meter run (2:12.63/PR), sophomore Daevin Casarrubias took fourth during the 400-meter run (55.66/PR) and sophomore Landen Claussen crossed the 3200-meter line in fourth (12:03.87).
During the 1600-meter run, York placed fifth (4:55.37) followed by junior Drew Miller in sixth (4:56.78).
In relays, the freshmen sprint medley relay (100/100/200/400) of Kyler Parker, Carter Mostek Trecyn Ocampo and Grady Maas placed fourth (4:18.42) and the 4x400 of senior Ignacio Salemeron Diaz, Casarrubias, Taven Ocampo and Dobbins took sixth (3:50.94).
